1. PhD Scholarships
The Society has established five PhD Scholarships two to commemorate two late and distinguished editors of the Journal - Geoff Lockett and Tom Lupton, a third one to honour Karen Legge the recent distinguished editor and a fourth to honour Grigor McClelland one of the founding members of SAMS. The fifth is known at the SAMS Scholarship.
These scholarships are aimed at PhD students at any higher education institution in the UK who have completed the equivalent of the first year on a full time programme. These are for two years and are for a total of £40,000 (£17,000 at the beginning of the second and third years and £6,000 on successful completion and award of their PhD. (PhD Studentships). Scholarship holders must submit at least one paper to the Journal of Management Studies based on their doctoral research.

2. Doctoral Colloquia
The Society also offers sponsorship for doctoral colloquia held in conjunction with suitable management conferences. The aim of such colloquia should be to provide help and guidance to doctoral students in any stage of their doctoral programmes. Grants of up to £15,000 are available.
